Erzurum ve çevresinden bir kadın kahramanın öyküsü, bir efsane gibi nesilden nesile anlatılıyor. 93 harbi olarak bilinen 1877-1878 Osmanlı-Rus Savaşı’nda, düşmana karşı duran bir Türk Kadınının, Nene Hatun’un öyküsü bu.

Sırada bir kadındım ben, Rus ordusundan kaçtım. Eşimi, kardeşimi ve çocuğumu kaybettim Osmanlı-Rus Savaşı esnasında,

Düşmana direnen son kalemiz, Aziziye tabyasıydı. Bu hattın düştüğünü duyunca korkmadım ve beşikteki bebeğimi bırakıp elime bir satır alıp ölüme koştum. Benimle birlikte genç ,yaşlı, kadın , çocuk 2000 sivil insan; donanımlı bir ordunun üzerine yürüdü. Vatanları için, evleri, insanları için canlarını ortaya koydular.___

SELF SACRIFICE

Self sacrifice means one’s giving up his/her own benefits for an aim or something wanted to come true. The one who does this is sometimes a mother, sometimes a soldier, sometimes a citizen or an emperor.

There are many precious people who come to the front with their self devotion on the pages of history.

NENE HATUN

The story of a heroine from Erzurum is passed down like a legend. This is the story of a Turkish woman who opposed against the enemy during the Ottoman-Russian War which is also known as 93 War.

Nene Hatun:

‘’I am an ordinary woman, ran away from the Russian Army. I lost my husband, child and brother during Ottoman-Russian War.

Our last fortress resisting the enemy was Aziziye bastion. I was not afraid when I heard that this line fell. And I left my baby in the cradle, took an axe and ran for death. Together with me, young, old, woman, child 2000 people walked all over a full equipped army. For their homeland, homes, people, they fought tooth and nail.’’ At the end of this huge attack, Turkish bastions were captured. Russian army had to withdraw. About 1000 women and men from Erzurum were martyred. Capturing the Aziziye bastion was the milestone. Advent of Russian Army was stopped in Erzurum. The Russian couldn’t get what they wanted in Caucasus Side.Nene Hatun became war veteran. Even her name was forgotten, this heroine was discovered at the age of 95. She was declared to be the Granny of 3rd Army.

كنت امرأة عادية ، هربت من الجيش الروسي. لقد فقدت زوجي وشقيقي وطفلي خلال الحرب العثمانية الروسية ،‎كانت آخر قلعة قاومت العدو هي معقل العزيزية. عندما سمعت أن هذا الخط قد سقط ، لم أكن خائفة ، وتركت طفلي في المهد ، وأخذت صفًا في يدي وركضت حتى الموت. بمن فيهم 2000 ألف مدني ، شباب وكبار ونساء وأطفال ؛ سار على جيش مجهز. لقد بذلوا حياتهم من أجل وطنهم ومنازلهم وشعبهم.
